Smokers could save £170 a month by quitting
News brought to you by Skint Tariffs, providers of price comparison for cheap international calls. Some people enjoy making cheap international calls while puffing on a cigarette, but they could improve their finances further by stubbing the fag out.
With No Smoking Day approaching, campaigners have highlighted that smokers can save money by simply kicking the habit.
Some observers are predicting a further 20p to be added to the price of cigarettes in next Wednesday's budget, making the figures even higher.
As things stand, someone smoking 20 a day would save about £170 a month by giving up. Paying the same money to repay a mortgage instead of sending it up in smoke would see the loan repaid nine years sooner, according to broker John Charcol.
And the cost of life insurance could also drop dramatically, saving the former smoker £2,250 over 25 years.
Making cheap international calls is certainly one way of cutting bills without having to cut out the things one enjoys.
